Universal Print from Microsoft is serverless, driverless cloud print deployment. It allows printers to be published to Windows 10 PCs via the Microsoft Azure cloud (Office 365 / Microsoft 365), without the need for print servers on-site or printer-specific drivers. Users are able to discover and print to printers that are close to them or print to printers that are in a different location without the need for a VPN connection to that location. Virtually any printer can be deployed with Universal Print via a software agent or native support.
Canon began collaborating with Microsoft early on in the development of Universal Print which means that they are able to provide native embedded support into their devices without the need for a software agent on a PC. Embedded support for Universal Print will be rolled out across the current Canon office MFD ranges, from desktops to print room copiers.
Universal Print is currently in the final stages of development. Through our partnerships with Microsoft and Canon we have gained early access to the technology and are currently testing and preparing for general availability launch in Q1 2021.
Air Copier Systems will be able to help you transition to cloud based print management and deployment, whether you are an existing Microsoft 365 user or not.
